Serious About Safety Majority

Real safety comes from solutions
that work—not fear.

People gathered outdoors at a social event, with some standing by a table with drinks and others mingling. There are trees, string lights, and a building in the background, creating a festive atmosphere.
Two women sitting on a tan leather couch in a cozy, wood-paneled living room, sharing a joyful moment with one woman opening a gift bag. They are smiling and laughing, one wearing a white sweater, the other a green sweater and blue knit hat, with a tablet on the woman's lap, colorful pillows on the sofa, and decorative elements in the background.
A man, woman, and young girl are happily playing and hugging each other in a cozy indoor setting, smiling and showing affection.

    The Problem

    Fear isn’t a safety plan.

For decades, “tough on crime” policies have dominated the conversation—despite failing to deliver real safety. These approaches rely on fear and punishment, while ignoring the evidence-based strategies that actually prevent crime and strengthen communities.

60% of Americans want real safety solutions, not rhetoric

Nationwide, people want solutions that stop crime before it happens.

A clear majority of Americans—including Independents—prefer leaders who focus on real safety solutions over “tough on crime” rhetoric by a margin of 60 to 40.

80% support from law enforcement for new approaches to safety

Proven strategies can make neighborhoods safer.

An overwhelming majority of law enforcement professionals agree that programs focused on outreach, mediating conflicts, mentoring youth, and diverting problems away from violence would help prevent crime.

Nearly 3 in 5 victims of crime prefer proven prevention policies

Investing in prevention instead of punishment-first solutions.

58% of victims of violence support initiatives that prevent crime by strengthening communities over policies that respond to crime by focusing only on punishing people.
